As regards defending a man like a mom…

I was thinking of when the mom is offering excuses for a son’s weakness or bad behavior…when a woman’s defense of a man occurs because the man is too weak to defend himself…when the man is weaker than the woman.

Potentially a woman might offer a weak defense of a man to signal her availability. An example of a weak defense is saying that her husband enjoys cooking so he does that while she goes out dancing. Or saying that her husband doesn’t mind it when other men have their hands all over her on the dance floor. If he doesn’t care, then it’s Ok for her to do that.

She also might defend a man in order to defend herself or offer herself cover/plausible deniability.

I can imagine occasions where Ton would need a defense. He has weaknesses just like anyone else. Still, hiding behind a woman’s skirt…don’t think I’ve ever done that. Mrs. Gamer couldn’t think of any time that she has ever defended me. Her friends and our family members don’t undermine me to her.

Off topic observation:
Long-time marriage–at church, most people in our Sunday School class are long-time married with no divorce, while in my dancing social circle, most people have been divorced.

Presumably a woman who is cussing other people out for attacking you is demonstrating her respect for you and your strength and not defending you because you are too weak to defend yourself.
